Well said fizzle05 and very poetic, I doubt if you can get into much trouble modifying your own firmware dump for the purpose of themeing your player. The first thing I did was modify mine which originally looked like an advertisment for Lotus Blossum Festival.
I think most people who run into difficulty are flashing there players just because they can or they want 3 mind numbing games instead of one and have little or no understanding of compatibility issues or player specs.
Bottom line is these are not mini computers that you can add and remove software from. That said I think my Nano clone has got more processing and storage power than the first laptop I bought.
