When charging my player the lcd would not go into sleep mode, this increases the time it takes for the battery to charge and also shortens the life of the lcd.

With the following settings I have enabled it to switch off while charging.

On my player there appear to be 2 settings to set the lcd timeout. If you go into the settings menu, then LCD set they are the 2 entries below brightness. On my player they were titled darkle and black (??) until I renamed them to LCD off which made more sense to me. You will find when you set or make changes to the first one it also sets the second one automatically however you still need to enter the second one and accept the setting by pressing the play button.

Then return to settings and go to Power Off, then Off time setting and set to zero.

Now connect your player to the USB cable and the connection screen will come up in your player and the battery will start charging. Press the menu button and scroll to Music and open the music player but do not play anything, now the battery will continue to charge and the screen will still go into sleep mode.
