WinXP should recognise it fine, no drivers needed.

Here's what you can try:

1. Try to get a hold of ANOTHER USB cable and try that instead.

2. Try plugging your player into another USB port on your computer and see if Windows recognises it.

3. Try plugging your player into another COMPUTER instead and see if that recognises it.

Trying those will help us determine where the fault is. Also, does your player play music, videos etc.. and operate FINE?
