Default Rising MPX problems

Hi, anyone have any thoughts on how to prevent the rising number of firmware issues?

Most people are not backing up their firmwares before they upgrade their player. I did the same...now I understand how important it is to backup the original firmware...and I bet most others also realize it when it is already too late.
 I think that more than 80% of all mpx problems are firmware related.

I have come to believe that the upgrade tool is very inefficient.
First of all, it is very annoying when it says "success" even after seriously bad upgrades...

Secondly, I think there should have been a feature built into it to check the upgrading firmware with the original firmware in the player and to allow upgrade only if the upgrading firmware is 100% compatible.

Or it should have had a feature to automatically extract the original firmware and save it before upgrading.

At least there should have been a pop-up message notifying the user to backup firmware before upgrade. Something like this would have done the task: "WARNING: Please backup your firmware before continuing. There's a 99% risk that your player can be dead in a few minutes"

There are thousands of copies of the mpx upgrade tool out there...and I bet there will a continuing trend of dead players in the future.

If anyone can design a new upgrade tool that does have such features, please do so...it'll be very helpful (at least it will help prevent a few firmware problems).

Please post back any thoughts or comments :P
Thanks very much for reading
