Great post arish_06, you are right the key thing is BACKUP, I have loaded a couple of dud firmware that have left my screen black and lifeless but have been able to immediately return my player to it's original state by reloading the BACKUP. I think the problem is that the players are so cheap, if they were $500 to $800 bucks a piece people would be more careful.
