Shuffle/random - works...sort of...
I have searched the forums and have only found a couple of discussions on shuffle/random features of mp4 players.
My player seems to mostly know what to do when I select the "Shuffle All" play mode item. Choosing this mode changes the track display to ???/261 (I have 261 mp3 files loaded on the player), however, it can only randomize up to track 143 for some reason i.e. 143/261. If I manually browse to track 143 and click the Next button, the track number goes up by 1 to track 144. Then track 145 etc. If I manually browse to track 142 and click the Next button, the player randomly chooses a file between track 001 and track 141. Similarly, if I manually browse to track 143 and click the Previous button, the player randomly chooses a file between track 001 and track 142. There is no playback issue when manually playing back tracks 144 onwards - I just can't shuffle them.
The setup of files/folders isn't anything complex:
Folder 1 - 21 tracks
Folder 2 - 13 tracks
Folder 3 - 14 tracks
Folder 4 - 12 tracks
Folder 5 - 12 tracks
Folder 6 - sub-folder 1 - 17 tracks, sub-folder 2 - 18 tracks
Folder 7 - 17 tracks
Folder 8 - 27 tracks
Folder 9 - 10 tracks
Folder 10 - 12 tracks
Folder 11 - 12 tracks
Folder 12 - 14 tracks
Folder 13 - 12 tracks
Folder 14 - 15 tracks
Folder 15 - sub-folder 1 - 18 tracks, sub-folder 2 - 17 tracks
Folder 8 is the folder which contains tracks 142, 143, 144 etc. Technically, I suppose, due to the 2 sub-folders in folder 6, folder 8 could be viewed as folder 10.
Any which way I look at the numbers, there simply doesn't seem to be any sense to why the random feature fails to acknowledge track 144-261. I could understand if it only handled up to track 99 or something.
Any ideas? Any similar experiences? Any solutions (please?)
