Upgrading your firmware is always a risky process the firmware only has to be slightly incompatible and your player could be left unusable.
Upgrading your firmware will not add new features or options.
Some of the setup files are in foreign languages which can cause some virus scanners to read then as infected files.
You could delete all .msi files except MSIen.msi which is the english install and then rescan the folder.

What about if I extract out my original firmware first and then try other's firmware. If not working then I program back my original firmware. Will this be ok then?
I would hope that I can modify the firmware so that to customize the my player. This seems so fun!
