Hunter, This is generally an indication that you have still not found the correct firmware for your player. There are so many different variations and combinations of componenets used to build them that quite often the hardest part of the whole process is finding the right firmware. There are also some for download at s1mp3.org.
Also I have noticed that not all the firmware in the download section have been repaired after extraction and will give an error report when trying to use them. If this happens rename them dump.bin and use the repair.bat in the s1fwx folder to fix them.
