Updating firmware on your player is very risky. I wouldn't recommend it as the hassels involved with recovering a 'dead player' if flashed with an incompatible firmware is a nuisence and time consuming.

In some cases, recovering a dead player from incorrectly flashing your player with an incompatible firmware might render is completely dead instead.

So there is a high risk of that happening. Updating the firmware to a new version won't guarantee you will get new or updated features.

Majority of players are DIFFERENT and majority of firmware is specific to player or MPx manufacturer.
