That sounds like to me that you don't have the correct codecs installed on your computer to be able to decode .MOV Quicktime files.
Have you installed a Codec Pack that has the .MOV decoder in it yet?
You can try the SLD Codec Pack (downloadable from our site) or the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack.
Try that and let me know of the result.
