Check the CD that came with your player there may be a copy of the firmware on it. It will be a .bin or .fw file. If it has one or you have a backup dump.bin you could try to reload your firmware. If you have no backup of your firmware and you know the right version number you can try ones from the download section.
This process could make the problem worse though as you may end up with a player that no longer works and is not recognised by Windows in which case you will have to follow the DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE to get your player going again.
