I think this is one of the best ideas since most ppl will want to use a nice pair a headphones (mine is a Sennheiser PX10 junk with a 2.5mm jack :P lol) without having resoldered the jacks or the earpieces.
unfortunately good sounding 2.5mm pairs are far and in between
