Firstly the problem with this is that most of the eBay sellers that are in 'china' are in Hong Kong, and Hong Kong is not china, the laws are different and frankly no one is going to give a damm if some person in europe/usa etc got some 'hacked player'.
It also not the makers of the player who are hacking them, its normally 3rd party people who buy 256mb/512mb and then change them to look like they hold more memory. Trust me, its near impossible to catch these people.
In the end your complaint is that these cheap chinese products come faulty and without support, well that what you get for buying cheap, not trying to be rude, but you pay for what you get. If you buy a MPX Player and its really cheap, then you better be fully aware that your more than likely will get a 'hacked' player.
In the end the simplest solution to this is be a smart buyer.
