Dixie, The first thing most people do is delete the demo files. I have 4 players and they all work after deleting the files and formatting.
Download s1fwx HERE You can use it to make a backup of the firmware on your player, there is a guide on how to do this in the Knowledge Base HERE .
Once you have extracted and repaired your firmware format your player in FAT format not FAT32.
If you do not have a copy of Mp3 Player Utilities on your computer download and install a copy from HERE

When your have extracted and repaired your firmware and formatted your player in FAT format reload your repaired firmware to your player using the MP3 Upgrade Tool that you installed with MP3 Player Utilities. It is quite easy to use but there is a guide to using it HERE

Once you have done that create a folder on your MP3 Player called Music then put about 20 mp3 files into it and see if they will all play.

DO NOT TRY TO LOAD ANY FIRMWARE OTHER THAN THE ONE YOU EXTRACTED FROM YOUR PLAYER. DOING SO MAY KILL IT PERMANENTLY.
