Yeh, that's the difficult bit. Majority of the times, people come to the site AFTER they've bought the player looking for help and explanation as to why the memory has decreased....... by then alittle too late.

basically i agree with your opinion, i come across this forum after i've bought my mp4 player. how do i know this forum? well because the software they provided in their cd not functioning, so i have to use the source of internet. and i find this forum really helpful and immediately i registered myself.
before i buy my mp4, i have do some research as well in the internet, know their features and try to find as many info as possible like capasity, screen size, and format they play. my only comparison is ipod nano. i prefer my mp4 to have big screen size, big capasity at lease 512 MB and as thin as possible. also i wish it can play wmv format. thats my minimum requirement. i end up buying ipod clone with 1G capasity and 18 screen size. my regret after buying it, is it's not TFT screen. the salesman never mention this when selling the product to me. anyway i don't blame him. because that really will confuse me more if he told me that point. he might not even been able to close the sales. haha
