CRAPmon2,

Sorry to say this, but majority of the time, a 4 GB player is a 'hacked' player. This is where a smaller size memory chip is installed in your player but it has been hacked to show a larger (4GB) size instead.

From your post, those are generally are the symptoms of a hacked player.

What you can do is this:
1. Backup the files you want to keep on your player. Use the "MP3 Disk Tool" from "MP3 Player Utilities" to format your player. When you do, select the "low" format option. This should clear (most of the time) the hacks put in and generally fixes majority of the problems.

2. Backup your firmware using s1fwx so you have a backup of your player's firmware.

3. If after Step #1, you're still having problems, then follow step 2 then this step. After extracting your firmware with the s1fwx tool, RELOAD the firmware back on your player. Strange as it may seem, this has also fixed these kind of issues.
