No, unfortunately you can't just use a 'similar' firmware as there is no 100% sure way to tell that someone else's firmware will be 100% compatible. Even though the casing looks the same, board, chips and button configuration can be totally different. You also can run into a 'dead player'.

I read your dump message and it saids "access denied". This is a problem.

Try:

1. Formatting your player. Use Windows Explorer or the Disk Tool as part of the MP3 Utilities install.

2. Check also that you don't have 'encrpytion' enabled on the MPx player during the format as well.

Try those then try running s1fwx again to see if you still get that "access denied" message.

I think once you get a good backup of your firmware from your player, it'll be easier for you to modify it to your liking and lessen the risk of having a 'dead player'.
