i just used the non-apple-branded silicon case for ipod nano bought from some retail shops for $4, it's the same external dimensions. The only drawback is the clickwheel indentation for ipod nanos are higher than MPx by about 7-8mm approx. So the silicon case's circular indentation would appear higher than the MPx's buttons.
Just needed to use a penknife to cut the screen opening bigger (as ipod nanos have smaller screens) and cut an extra hole for the earphone socket.
Turns out that the silicon case was in fact very easy to slice through, the hole opening was also cut with relative ease. Manufactured silicon cases for MPx players are not easy to find, usually found in ebay or some online shops.
