black_sheep, If you are knowledgable in Z80 coding you could give it a try. I have heard of people using a hex editor to reassign buttons, and also reports of people bricking their players after trying to change code. s1mp3.org have been working on firmware changes and replacement for about 12 months. I have not been following the project but seems to be slow. You can read about it in their wiki on the Swan Project
