I think the root of the problem is that your player is hacked and you copied more on the player than it could hold, so all the music files were corrupt, hence why they never played correctly.

You shouldn't use windows to format, but the format fucntion in the MP3 utilities software that came with your player (or can be downloaded from this site).

This will remove the hack and show you how much actual memory you have, then use the guide on this site to reload your firmware. Hopefully you got a player with some decent memory size (1-2gb).
