Looks very similar to a player I have.
It seems to me you have either a Sigmatel or Sunplus chipset on your player.

Try this tool: "UDisk Checker" downloadable from here.

It should give you a better indication to what your device is.

You can also try the Sigmatel Firmware Extractor from here. It will work if you have a Sigmatel chip.

Unfortunately, I haven't found a Sunplus Firmware extractor yet...

Check the contents of your cd as well. You might find some tools on there and also firmware too.

In terms of answering your original question, with my player (similar to yours), I had to put music in a folder called "MP3". Or try "Music". Otherwise it won't play it. I don't think it will find the music if you just copy it into the root of the device.

Try that and let me know.
