skyline.gtr.tg,
Apple has spent millions on reasearch and development. The iPod Nano uses a completely different chipset architecture to support multiple memory modules.
The chipods would need a total hardware redesign and rebuild, at the moment they are not capable of supporting more than 2GB Nand Flash Memory but as new chipsets and designs emerge I'm sure we will see memory increases as well as price increases.
We will also start seeing more products like the Meizu MiniPlayer which currently supports 4GB using 2x2GB chips and has all the features of the Nano like slide touch controls plus video capability. Meizu are currently setting up distribution networks around the world to take a bite of the Apple by bring their product to the masses.
