If you have access to another PC try connecting the player and see if that crashes. If it does you may have to open the player and reset it by shorting the memory chip but as I am unsure if the problem is a firmware or hardware issue I do not know if this will work or not. If you decide to try a reset read the Dead Player Recovery Guide
HERE so you understand the process before starting. You will possibly have to short the chip before connecting to your PC though.
