devika, I have found it does not really matter where the chip is shorted, I have successfully reset the player on the left side, the right side and even from side to side across the chip. The recommended points to short though are here
If your player is not being recognised as an ADFU device and the upgrade software is not detecting your player then you need to manually install the driver as explained in the
red text. If you do not have an ADFU driver in the Windows folder you will find one in C:\Program Files\MP3 Player Utilities 3.57\RDiskUpdate\driver or where you have the MP3 Player Utilities installed.
