bikebogota, holding down the <<and>> buttons while the video is running should FF or REW, but it is so slow if you need to get to the middle of a movie. I split all my movies into 4 or 5 files before converting. I use VirtualDub and save a s a segmented .avi but if you do a Google search for Video Splitters there are a few other freeware programs available.
