Default ipod nano 2nd Gen 8GB

Hi,

I've been sitting here for hours trying to sort this problem out and I'm absolutely stumped! I hope someone can offer some advise!

I just bought 4 Apple ipod 2nd Generation models from China. One is in chinese and the other 3 don't work. They seem to be having a driver fault. Every time I try to select an option from the menu, it says "initializing" for ages, then goes to the voice recording screen and records a voice clip. i-tunes wont pick the player up. I've tried restoring factory settings, which turns the whole thing back into chinese! Would installing the latest firmware do the trick and if so, where can I get it/how do I install it??

The other thing I don't understand - I tried looking for answers on the apple website and came across a diagram for the ipods. On all of them, the 'hold' switch is at the top. But my top switch is the on/off switch. It even says this in the manual that came with it. It also says in the manual that the centre button is Play/Pause/Stop and the bottom button is A-Brepeat/REC, even though on the player itself, the bottom button is marked as Play/Pause.

I'M REALLY CONFUSED!!!

Can anyone offer any advise?? Any help whatsoever will be greatly received!

Thanks!
