mjasgt , try a format on your player first. Use the MP3 Utilities Disk Tool (that came on the cd or downloads section) and select "LOW" level format, then in the Partition & Encrypt tab, slide the slider all the way to the left (min) and click Format.
It might be that your player's memory was hacked, thus showing the format errors. Also, check that your music files are of the right format (.MP3 .WMA .WAV) as other formats might not work properly on the player.
