Hi tadad1

On reading this thread, I am a litle confused! I have bought 3 of these 'bogus' players from eBay sellers and there is something wrong with ALL of them. ops: One of them shows up in Windows as a 4GB, but it corrupts everything above 1GB (980MB to be exact!).

The seller told me to format it as FAT and not FAT32, is this correct? Also, I have not had any usable utility disks shipped with these players (either they don't contain the firmware or they are corrupt and the only thing they contain that works after a fashion is the video conversion software).

Also, they are supposed to read TXT files but all I get is a file (with a readable filename), but the text is jibberish?

Also, one of the batteries is completely dead (so I am unable to tell what capacity it is), is there any way to change the batteries for these players and if so, where do I get one?

Thanks for all your great help.

I'm at my wits end with it all and wonder if I should have paid the price for a Sandisk Sansa!
