Mmmm.. It does sound like an Ipod clone,, but thats not necessarily a bad thing..
These players prefer to play MP3 tunes,, so if any tune is not in either MP3, WMA or AAC (I think) it will not play them.. so you need to see what format ALL your tunes are in. If you have the time and ability I would change them all to MP3.. there are plenty of progs about.
Genuine players will usually connect to Itunes when connected to a PC.. if yours is different then you should play with it a bit to get it to just upload the songs you choose.. You should also make sure that you haven't selected a 'Play intro' or 'taster' instruction on the player or software which will just play the first 10 seconds of a tune before going to the next. Have you tried to press 'play' whilst it is playing the first few seconds?? this may solve the problem until you find the instruction and change it.
If the player shows up on your 'My computer' page as a Drive, then right click on the icon and select 'properties'.. this will let you know how much storage you have and how much is used. You will also be able to add or remove tunes, photos and videos from the player without the need to connect to any other software..
As it will pay AMV format (a video format) it suggests that it is using the chinese software not Itunes as this would normaly require a different format.. so it begins to look like a Ipod clone and not a genuine one,, But its not a problem if it has genuine memory.. What memory is it supposed to have?? does the box or booklet say 1Gig or 2Gig or 4Gig etc?
It is looking like a clone,,, and the error messages about wrong format rings a few alarm bells.. but once again I need to know what it is supposed to be before anything can be suggested... Look again and try to see what size it is,, and let me know what the software it connects to is called if you can.. You could also check the photos on this site to see if yours looks like one of these and then let us know. If its a wrong 'un there are plenty of solutions to get it working ok.
