jon, The ATJ2085 is the most common chip used in these players so there will be plenty to try in the Downloads>Firmware section. Although knowing the board number is helpful most people when uploading their firmware do not list this information because they have never needed to open their players to find out.
There are 100's and 100's of variations of firmware and despite all the fine information you have provided it is not possible to tell you a particular firmware that will work with your player.
I can only encourage you to keep trying different firmware to recover your player
