psiberthug , try going to your System Device Manager.
Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >> System icon >> Hardware tab >> Device Manager.

Now expand the Disk Drives option and you should see your computer harddrive.
Next, plug in your player to the USB, does a new "Generic USB Disk Device" (or something similiar) appear?
Are there any yellow warning icons on it?

Why are clones called MP4 Players, when they don`t play .MP4 at all?
