Re: Let's be the solution and NOT the problem~~~
ldsmom, you've had a great idea.
I wish more people had that same attitude, this way those scams would quit in a matter of days. As for me, I've recently been a victim more, but I want to take actions to avoid future scams for me and others.
I'll give you a few ideas, some might even be useful:
- Make a website full of testimonials (with emails and perhaps ebay ids so people can ask questions), photos of everything, info (how to "unhack" the player, know the chip, etc.), a detailed and updated blacklist (with ebay ids, pics, webs, etc.), and more.
Something important would be making the web very, very clear (yet detailed), and make it really easy to find through any search web when searching for such terms as "chipod", "nano clone", "ebaydid", etc. Another option would be a section where people can "sign" (basically make a list with all the people who wants to claim against the seller) so the claim has more power than just one or few individuals.
- Contact people who has bought from those sellers and let them know via email (and repeated times) the existance of the web, so they join.
- Create false ebay accounts to spoil and rate those sellers?
- Once the web is more or less working, make it famous (tell the media, FBI, your neighbour, everyone). Make clear the position of ebay regarding the scam. Perhaps this grows into something like "ipods dirty secret".
If I have more ideas, I'll post them. If I can help somehow, here I am.
PS. Michigan, your guide was very helpful! Too bad I read it when it was too late...
