Default Re: Shame on you, Uxcell!

For anyone who would like to check out their capacity:

The way I checked the player, having discovered that as I filled it up above a certain size, was to delete all the files, add about 50 megabytes worth at a time, using only one level of folder with less than 8-character filename and less than 99 files per folder, and check by playing the first part of each track and by checking the file directory with Windows Explorer.
The 228 megabyte limit before files would not play and filenames were corrupted was repeatable.
I only formatted it, with the supplied utility, when Uxcell said in their email to do so.
The result was just the same as before.
Checking (but not changing) the partition size both with the supplied utility, and Windows disk manager showed that the capacity was actually 228 megabytes, not the 2 Gigabytes that the file allocataion table had been manipulated to show.

Despite me trying carefully to ask Uxcell to confirm the size should be 2 gigabytes, they have carefully avoided doing so.

It's a shame really, as it's actually quite a nice little player - it's very good in all other respects.
Would I have bought it if it had been advertised as 256 megabytes - probably not - I was really looking for something a bit bigger, to save having to swap out tracks quite as much.
