tttbrian, Every version of MP3 Player Utilities has a MP3 Update Utility. For the newer version chips you will be better trying versions 4.05, 4.07, or 4.09 my understanding of "Chigoogle" translation is that these versions were optimized for the new chipsets and larger screen players.
If the player is not being recognised by the Update tool you may need to short the memory chip to reset as shown in the Dead Player Recovery Guide
