After you plug it in USB port appear a green arrow next to windows clock, double click in green arrow, then you can check if the player satus is MASS STORAGE DEVICE or ADFU MODE.
If player is in ADFU mode you only can repair it getting the firmware dump.bin (but you must to take care, you can kill your player) and it is not easy to find...you have to open your player and get the board especification, check

If player satus is Mass Storage Device and the screen still showing hourhlass picture, sorry I don't know what it could be!
