xcarecrow , likely i think the problem lies with an incompatible firmware. As you have formatted the player, but still having the file problems.

You'll need to try another v9.0.xx firmware.
Try asking your seller if he has the firmware to send you.
Also search in the CD that came with your player, sometimes the firmware file is inside. It should be in .fw or .bin extension.
