Sorry for doubting you oh wise one !!!

I found that shorting across the first pins on the smaller chip got it started.

Windows installed the AFDU? driver then I uploaded firmware full 3.5.35 which locked up about 1/4 of the way through.

I had to disconnect the usb and got an error message.

Upon reconnecting the player was back up and running. All my files were still there as if nothing had happened.

When I put it back together it would not power up again. So I pulled it apart and did it again. This time there was no need for the firmware upgrade.

I placed a cutout bit of paper on the inside of the case and put it back together just in case it was shorting itself out.

Now it works
