It sounds to me like you may not be using it correctly. It will play the last song if you dont hit the right key. The trick to remember is always press the MENU key (briefly) for almost every action, EXCEPT when you are in the MUSIC (or MOVIE) screen (the screen that is usually blue, where you see the song title, kbps, battery indicator, running time, etc). Then you hit PLAY to start the song (go through LOCAL FOLDER and \ using the MENU key to locate the song you want to play). I find, on my FMP at least, once you get the hang of it, its really not bad. The frustrating thing is that its a bit slow to react and you may overshoot the song (in the folder list), so if that happens, I go backward (with the REV key) and it will scroll up the list as well as down, even if youve gone beyond the last title.
