lionblazeo...that sounds like the screensaver/screen black kicking in. Just go to Settings > LCD > Black > and set it to stay on longer. I'm sure you can turn it off altogether.
The directions i've given are for my player but it should be similar to most.
Edit: Que beat me to it.. lol. yeah if the screen is on all the time your battery will run out alot faster
