jargrapes , what i can suggest is that you try every v9.0.xx series firmwares in the downloads section here

If none of these work, then you're left with a bricked player till the tools support your version. Try asking your seller if he/she has the firmware to send to you. Also search the CD that came with the player, sometimes the firmware is in it.
