I think it entirely depends on your country's postal service. HouseofDap shipped me my player via registered post from China, although there was a tracking number, i'm unable to track it from any postal sites (China Post or Australia Post). But the player did arrive to me and indeed it is registered with the same tracking number label.
Also, sometimes it takes a few working days for the transit to occur. The parcel may leave HK on a Monday as shown on the HK Postal website, but it maybe Thurs or Fri before it would re-appear on your country's postal site. As the parcel would be on an airplane flying somewhere around the world, enroute to your country.
