The current battery life completely blows so I'm hoping a new battery might improve it.

Changing the battery has nothing to do with mem capacity, so you can use the battery in that auction (and it looks like a goody). You just need to measure the space your current battery fits in, then ask the seller if he'll give you exact measurements of his battery and see if they can work togther.
