Hi, I suppose you changed headphones between the 2 players to exclude that one (headphone is also the antenna)? If the radio doesn't give a signal on normal and Japanese band, there might be a contact they forgot to solder, near the headphone jack. Since you got 2 the same players (are they?) you could open them up and look for similarity/differences between the 2. It could also be a dead radio chip of course, any warranty on the player?
