Thanks for identifying its lack-of-support surrounding v9.0.48. I'd tried the latest S1FWX v3.1 direct from
www.s1mp3.de (s1mp3.org offered an earlier v3.0) and Windows Safe Mode, but encountered problems begining with EXTRACT.BAT:

Should S1FWX's lack-of-support make me extra-cautious about using the "MP3 Player Firmware Upgrade Tool" from Utilities 4.10? Its AMV Converter is still patchy for 160X120, outputing 176X128 instead, even though Uxcell's bundled KSJ.AMV is 160X120@16fps.

Purchased mine for a gift but to have a play with first. To me, MP4s are concept iPods designs, and Z80 CPUs no longer excuse your poor Graphical-User-Interface for a platform into its life-cycle.
My MP4's menu-style is a jog-wheel clipped to an arch of five icons set against a bubbly changing color-scheme, but is let down by the way icons justle around randomly, the Radio selection been an animated-GIF of a Sony MiniDisc, and both quirks been spotted quickly.
