I know first hand that if you plug the player into the charger but not into the wall outlet and theres a charge already in the battery it will switch on as it detects the chargers circuit on the other end of the USB cable.
It's refusal now to light up could mean the battery is finally drained.
At this point all i can suggest is you get in contact with the company or person you bought the player from and look at getting it replaced because unfortunately it sounds like there is either a problem with your players charging circuit or it's battery.
Anyone else here have any ideas?
