Actually it is rather swift beforehand but once filled to near capacity it's 'snail slow'. It's all down to the capabilities of the main processor. Why do you think they are so cheap? Because the processor is cheap. So are all the other bits and pieces.
Compare it to a true iPod Nano. Those things burn rubber. Why? Because their processors and bits and pieces aren't cheap, therefore they are not cheap.
If you want a clone that is fast, expect to pay considerably more than what you would for a FMP... look for something in the vicinity of roughly half the cost of the iPod at the very least and some kind of brand name.

also, are you saying that 4 gigabyte FMP is fast? I would never be able to reach close to full capacity, maybe almost up to half.
