I have the same transmitter and have found that using a long headphone extension cord (several feet) and turning up the sound source to a high volume increases the transmission range significantly. Even without this it has a surprising range. The ability to USB power the device is really convenient. I use the transmitter daily and have never had any problems with it. Highly recommended.
