Are you sure it uses swf, not flv? FLV is the new standard for flash video (used on youtube etc), so I'm wonderin if if it says "flash video" it means flv instead?
Have you gotten other files sourced from elsewhere to work, before trying to convert your own?
If flv, then you can use Riva flv encoder, it's free.

If it does indeed support swf, then I can't help you off-hand (apart from suggesting obtaining a full version of flash), but one thought may be the flash VERSION that it supports, and which version your converter program outputs.
Maybe it only supports Flash Lite 1.1, which is essentially flash 4; the current version of flash (developing) is 8, and the latest player is 9, so your converter could possibly be spitting out a version that the player can't handle?
