marioch , your problem with the folders and files seems to be symptoms of a hacked memory chip. Format your player with MP3 Utilities Disk Tool here

Regarding firmwares, never update with another firmware, even if the version number is exactly the same. As you would most likely brick your player. Unless your player is dead, you should never flash in firmwares.
