Yep... The 'slowness' is common for an Actions chipset player. The Optimus X.. can't go wrong, 'Rockchip' chipset... two thumbs up.
OK, with a 1.5 inch upright screen you probably won't fill the screen entirely. The only program i can recommend to utilize it correctly would be AMV Converter v3.57. You can download that from the download section of this forum. However if you want to completely fill the screen, i'd use the modified version of AMV Converter 4.0 here >

Before you process your video, right click on the file then choose 'Settings'. Then change it's video size to 128x128.
Then go ahead and process the video to AMV.
That should do the trick...
